Is there a Call of Duty Battle Royale mode coming?

Some potentially exciting news for Call of Duty fans… Modern Warfare might soon be releasing a Battle Royale online game mode. A game mode that has become immensely popular in recent years through the likes of H1Z1, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), Fortnite and of course, last year, Call of Duty’s own Blackout, which launched as part of Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

We played some Blackout and we’ve also dabbled with other BR games, getting particularly into Fortnite before the spell wore off and we got bored… The news that there might be a new Battle Royale game type in Modern Warfare is on the whole good news. Not so much for us as we’re unlikely to play it, but more for all those who yearn for massive map warfare where the aim is just to eliminate other people.

For us, the only benefit might be that it takes some of the non-objective players away from game modes like Ground War – you know the ones we mean, the ones on Tavorsk district who feel the need to just sit on rooftops sniping despite the fact their team is getting owned! Anyway… moving on.

While the game mode hasn’t yet been confirmed by Infinity Ward (true at the time of writing), data miners found evidence of the game mode in the game files. It includes details of map size, number of players, game types (Solo, Duos, Squads) etc. and from if what’s been found is true, the map is going to be HUGE and can include up to 200 players! The map would apparently include all of the current Ground War maps as well as other places seen in the game.

We currently have no idea when this game mode might be launched but we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just in time for Christmas as hundreds of thousands of new players join the game!
